📘 Park Overview

From the sweet little farm at the foot of Penn’s Hill to the gentleman’s country estate at Peace field, Adams National Historical Park is the story of “heroes, statesmen, philosophers…and learned women” whose ideas and actions helped to transform thirteen disparate colonies into one united nation.

🌤 Weather Information

Be prepared for hot, humid weather. The historic homes are not air conditioned. While the visitor center remains open all year, the historic homes are generally closed from approximately November 1 through April 30.

🚗 Directions

Traveling on U.S. Interstate 93, take exit 7 - Route 3 South to Braintree and Cape Cod. Take the first exit off Route 3 south - exit 42. Follow signs toward Quincy Center. Continue straight on Burgin Parkway through seven traffic lights. At the eighth traffic light, turn right onto Dimmock Street. After one block, turn right onto Hancock Street. The National Park Service Visitor Center, located at 1250 Hancock Street, is on your left. Validated parking is in the Presidents Place garage, 44 Saville Avenue.

Entrance Fees

Entrance - Per Person
Entrance into the historic homes at Adams National Historical Park requires an entrance pass. Entrance passes cost $15 per person. Children under the age of 16 are free. If you have an America the Beautiful Interagency Pass, you do not need to pay the entrance fee. Guided tours must be reserved in-person on the day of your visit at the park’s visitor center.

Adams National Historical Park has a digital annual pass available for purchase on Recreation.gov. This pass is good for 12 months following the purchase of the pass. Reservations for guided tours are still required, but the digital annual pass will ensure the passholder free entry into the park. The pass costs $45.

Historic Homes Closed for Season Park Closure
The historic homes are closed for the winter season and are expected to open May 1. Park grounds are open daily sunrise to sunset. The Visitor Center is open 11:00 am to 4:00 pm Mondays through Fridays. The Visitor Center is closed Saturdays and Sundays. The Visitor Center is closed on wintertime federal holidays, except for Presidents Day.
Visitor Center closed December 24 through December 26 Park Closure
The Adams NHP Visitor Center will be closed Wednesday, December 24, through Friday, December 26, for the Christmas federal holiday. The Visitor Center will open on Monday, December 29, during regular winter operation hours (11am-4pm Monday-Friday). The historic homes remain closed for the winter season.
Adams NHP closed due to inclement weather Park Closure
Due to adverse weather conditions, Adams National Historical Park will be closed Monday, February 23, through Wednesday, February 25.
Parking on Adams Street Temporarily Limited/Unavailable Park Closure
Due to construction on Adams St, street parking at the Old House may be limited or unavailable. Validated parking is available at 44 Saville Ave, 0.5 miles from the Old House.
Modified Operations July 11 and 12 Park Closure
Due a major City of Quincy event, Adams NHP is modifying operations July 11-12. The Visitor Center is closed July 11-12 and operations moved to the Peace field Carriage House. The park closes at 1pm July 12. Tours available July 11 and until 1pm July 12.
Visitor Center Closure: Saturday, July 26 Park Closure
The Visitor Center will be closed July 26 due to a planned power outage at Presidents Place. Park information, passes, reservations, passport stamps, and restrooms will be available at the Peace field Carriage House, 135 Adams St. Street parking available
Online Advance Reservations Unavailable in 2025 Park Closure
Online advance reservations for guided tours are not available in 2025. All guided tour reservations must be made in person at the Visitor Center on the day of the visit. Reservations are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
