📘 Park Overview

From the sweet little farm at the foot of Penn’s Hill to the gentleman’s country estate at Peace field, Adams National Historical Park is the story of “heroes, statesmen, philosophers…and learned women” whose ideas and actions helped to transform thirteen disparate colonies into one united nation.

🌤 Weather Information

Be prepared for hot, humid weather. The historic homes are not air conditioned. While the visitor center remains open all year, the historic homes are generally closed from approximately November 1 through April 30.

🚗 Directions

Traveling on U.S. Interstate 93, take exit 7 - Route 3 South to Braintree and Cape Cod. Take the first exit off Route 3 south - exit 42. Follow signs toward Quincy Center. Continue straight on Burgin Parkway through seven traffic lights. At the eighth traffic light, turn right onto Dimmock Street. After one block, turn right onto Hancock Street. The National Park Service Visitor Center, located at 1250 Hancock Street, is on your left. Validated parking is in the Presidents Place garage, 44 Saville Avenue.

Entrance Fees

Entrance - Per Person
Entrance into the historic homes at Adams National Historical Park requires an entrance pass. Entrance passes cost $15 per person. Children under the age of 16 are free. If you have an America the Beautiful Interagency Pass, you do not need to pay the entrance fee. Guided tours must be reserved in-person on the day of your visit at the park’s visitor center.

Annual Entrance - Park
Adams National Historical Park has a digital annual pass available for purchase on Recreation.gov. This pass is good for 12 months following the purchase of the pass. Reservations for guided tours are still required, but the digital annual pass will ensure the passholder free entry into the park. The pass costs $45.

Visitor Center and Historic Homes Closed Mondays and Tuesday Starting May 1 Park Closure
The Adams NHP Visitor Center and historic homes are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. The Visitor Center is open 9am to 5pm Wednesdays through Sundays. The historic homes are open Wednesdays through Sundays. Guided tour reservations are available first-come, first-served on the day of the tour at the Visitor Center. Reservations are not required for self-guided tours at the Adams Farm at Penn's Hill. Entrance passes (fees) are required for historic home entry. Park grounds are open daily sunrise to sunset.
Bag Policy Park Closure
Bags larger than 9"x11"x5" are not permitted in the historic homes. The park does not have storage lockers for these items. Bags may not be left unattended and cannot be left with park staff. Anyone carrying a bag larger than 9"x11"x5" will not be admitted into the historic homes.
Visitor Center Closed on Wednesday, January 1 Park Closure
The Adams NHP Visitor Center will be closed Thursday, January 1, in observance of New Year's Day. The Visitor Center will resume regular winter operation hours (11am-4pm Monday-Friday) on Friday, January 2. The historic homes remain closed for the winter season. Park grounds are open daily sunrise to sunset.
Winter Weather Conditions Affecting Grounds Access and Safety Danger
Park pathways may be inaccessible or treacherous due to winter weather conditions affecting the park, such as ice, snow, sleet, and heavy rains. Visitor should exercise caution when visiting park grounds.
Intermittent Visitor Center Phone Issues Information
The phone system at the Adams National Historical Park Visitor Center is currently experiencing intermittent audio issues.
Group Reservations Information
Groups of 11 or more people should contact the Visitor Center at ADAM_Visitor_Center@nps.gov or 617-770-1175 at least two weeks in advance to arrange their visit.

Special Event for Remember the Ladies 250 This Weekend, March 28-29 Park Closure
The park is hosting a free event for the 250th anniversary of Abigail Adams's "Remember the Ladies" letter Saturday-Sunday, March 28-29. The Adams Farm at Penn's Hill will be closed Saturday, except for visitors with Trolley Tour reservations, but open Sunday from 10am to 4pm for self-guided tours. The Old House at Peace field will be closed. The Visitor Center will be open 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday. Park grounds remain open daily sunrise to sunset. Historic Homes Closed for Season - Will Open May 1 Wednesdays-Sundays Park Closure
The historic homes are closed for the winter season and will open May 1. Park grounds are open daily sunrise to sunset. The Visitor Center is open 11:00 am to 4:00 pm Mondays through Fridays. The Visitor Center is closed Saturdays and Sundays. The Visitor Center is closed on wintertime federal holidays, except for Presidents Day. From May 1 through October 31, the Visitor Center and historic homes will be open Wednesdays through Sundays. The Visitor Center will be open 9am to 5pm.

Adams NHP is experiencing an elevated heat index which may result in tours and access to the historic homes being modified or cancelled. Please be aware that indoor temperatures may exceed outdoor temperatures. Please call 617-770-1175 for information.
