On Saturday, April 25, 2026, Appomattox Court House NHP will participate in the 30th Annual Park Day, sponsored by the American Battlefield Trust. Park Day is an annual event giving volunteers an opportunity to help with clean-up and preservation projects on some of the nationās most sacred grounds.
This year, participants will scrape and paint a large section of picket fence within the historic village of Appomattox Court House. Participants should arrive and check in at the Visitor Center at 9 a.m. Water will be provided, but participants should bring their own lunch. This event provides a great opportunity to support the preservation of one of our nationās historic Civil War sites for generations to come.

On Memorial Day, a special flag protocol is observed. The flag will fly at the half-staff position until noon only. Join a ranger at the flagpole for a brief reflection on those who sacrificed everything for our nation. A bugler will accompany the flag raising.

Join Ranger Keith Harvey on Saturday, June 27, 2026 for a special lecture about the Oxford Furnace. Located in present-day Campbell and Appomattox counties, Oxford Iron Works was one of the largest suppliers of iron for the Patriot cause during the American Revolution. Harvey will trace the experiences of Patriots, Loyalists, and enslaved African Americans in highlighting this forgotten industry and its contributions to American freedom.
