Join park rangers on a special tour of Castle Garden Emigrant Depot, the nation's first immigration center which operated from 1855-1890. The hour-long tour will take visitors back in time, to an era when restrictions on immigration were minimal and the operations run by the State of New York. The program will include both unique visual images of the facility and stories of those who immigrated through Castle Garden.

Join us at Castle Clinton as we host Ryan Cole, author of "The Last Adieu, Lafayette's Triumphant Return, the Echoes of Revolution, and the Gratitude of the Republic." In his hour-long talk, Ryan will retrace the historic and beautiful landing of Washington's "Favorite General" upon his return to America in 1824, as well as the memory and resonance of the "Grand American Tour" that followed.

You cannot drive directly to the site. Local parking is nearly impossible to find and expensive. All public transportation options are located outside of Battery Park.
