April 14, 1865. President Lincoln is assassinated at Ford’s Theatre. Discover how a nation handled grief and loss, how everyday people experienced a national tragedy, and how we have remembered a fallen leader. Today, in partnership with Ford’s Theatre Society, live dramatic productions highlight Lincoln’s love of the theatre, and the power of stories to connect us to ourselves and our history.

Ford's Theatre National Historic Site is located on 10th Street NW, between E and F streets, in downtown Washington, DC. The site is within walking distance of the Metro stops at Metro Center and Gallery Place. Parking garages and metered street parking are located nearby.

Make your reservation on the Ford's Theatre Society website at the link below. The reservation includes a self-guided tour through the museum, Petersen House (the house where Lincoln died), and Aftermath exhibits. Because Ford's Theatre is an active theatre, some tours or tour elements may occasionally be unavailable. Free, same-day tickets may be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Ford's Theatre box office; supplies are limited.

time of high tide.

* IMPACTS...At 2.8 feet, flooding of some of the parking area
near Dock Street in Annapolis may occur, with water
surrounding the Alex Haley Memorial.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Tides one to one and a half feet above
normal. The affected high tide at Annapolis U.S. Naval Academy
is at 7:26 AM Sunday morning.

Evening Tours of the Petersen House
Commemorate the 161st anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's assassination by joining a park ranger for an immersive evening tour of the Petersen House. This 30-minute guided tour will go beyond the familiar elements of the assassination to uncover intimate stories of Petersen House and the people who were there on the night of Lincoln's death.    Tours will be offered every 30 minutes from 6:00 to 7:30 pm on Monday, April 14, 2026. The maximum group size is 10 people. Admission is free, no tickets or reservations required.
