Merchant’s clerk, Revolutionary War soldier, first Secretary Treasury of the United States: Alexander Hamilton’s life is memorialized at The Grange, the home he built on a country estate in uptown Manhattan. A faithful testament to early American architecture, it stands today as a tribute to its first owner’s many accomplishments.

Woman's History Month: Eliza Hamilton

Join the rangers at Hamilton Grange to learn about Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton, who called The Grange home for 29 years! Eliza, or Betsey, made her mark on history throughout her 97 years of life. While she is well known as being Alexander Hamilton's wife, her dedication to her husband's memory helped immortalize the legacy of the founding generation.

Hamilton Grange Grounds Cleanup

Volunteers will help assist with cleanup projects around the grounds of Hamilton Grange National Memorial. Special care will be given to the lawn in regards to leaf pickup, as well as invasive plant removal on the hill behind the house. All the tools will be provided. Tasks will be assigned based on volunteer interest and ability.

Please prepare for the weather by bringing sunscreen, hats, water, and snacks.

The Yellow Fever Epidemic of 1793
In 1793, during Alexander Hamilton’s tenure as Secretary of the Treasury in Philadelphia, then capital of the United States, the city was struck by an epidemic of yellow fever. Nearly 5000 people died, and both Hamilton and his wife Eliza contracted the illness. In the aftermath, Hamilton’s actions sparked a national political debate over proper medical treatment, and a personal feud between Hamilton and founder Dr. Benjamin Rush. Join us on Saturday, June 13, at noon for a special free ranger talk on the epidemic, its aftermath, and health and medicine in the Early United States Republic.

Have you ever wanted to roleplay as Alexander Hamilton or Aaron Burr? Join Park Rangers at Hamilton Grange on Saturday, July 11th, to commemorate the 222nd anniversary of the Duel between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr, and Alexander Hamilton's subsequent death.   During this event audience members will be invited to read excerpts of the final letters between Hamilton and Burr that lead to their fateful meeting 222 years ago.   This is a free event!
