Abraham Lincoln grew from youth to manhood on this southern Indiana soil. Many character and moral traits of one of the world's most respected leaders was formed and nurtured here. Explore Lincoln's boyhood and learn about the boy who would one day become the leader of our nation.

🌤 Weather Information

Southern Indiana has a moderate climate, characterized by warm, yet moist conditions. Summers are usually warm, and winters cool. Much of the area's average 46 inches of precipitation falls in spring, the rainiest season.

🚗 Directions

From the east or west - From Interstate 64, exit onto US 231, (exit 57A). Travel south on US 231 to Indiana Highway 162. Take the Santa Claus/Gentryville exit. Turn west (right) on Indiana Highway 162; go 1-1/2 miles to the park entrance on the right. From the north or south - From US 231 take the Santa Claus/Gentryville exit. Turn west on Indiana Highway 162; go 1-1/2 miles to the park entrance on the right.

B.A.R.K. Ranger Day at Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial
We’re celebrating B.A.R.K. Ranger Day at Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial! On Sunday, April 19, from 10am until 2pm central, you and your pup can earn a B.A.R.K. Ranger badge! Rangers will be at the Memorial Visitor Center to swear in your furry friend.   Come enjoy a spring walk on the hiking trails while practicing our B.A.R.K. Ranger code of ethics:
  • B – bag your pet’s waste
  • A – always stay on leash (6 feet or shorter)
  • R – respect local wildlife
  • K – know where you can go

Location: Rangers will be at the Memorial Visitor Center to swear in your furry friend.

Junior Ranger Day

Join us to celebrate Junior Ranger Day on Saturday, April 25th to embark on an epic Lincoln Adventure Family Challenge!

Test your pioneer skills to accomplish tasks like splitting firewood, crafting candles, making butter, and matching animal pelts with their tracks. Rangers and interpreters will guide activities from 10 am until 2 pm.

This adventure is designed for Junior Rangers of all ages!

Location: Junior Ranger Day is at the Living Historical Farm.

Jan Jacobi Book Signing

Jan Jacobi, from St. Louis, Missouri, has always been a teacher. For 50 years, he served as a middle school head and taught English at three schools. At the urging of his students and a middle school colleague, he wrote a young adult novel about Abraham Lincoln that was published in 2018 as Young Lincoln. Young Lincoln won a Best of Illinois History Award and a Nautilus Award for middle grades fiction. He followed up with Lincoln in Springfield, which won the same two awards, in 2021. This past February, he published the third book in his Lincoln series, Lincoln and Douglas.

In collaboration with Eastern National, Jan will be here at Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial on Saturday, May 23, 2026, to chat with visitors and sign copies of his Abraham Lincoln book series. Join us from 10 am to 3 pm!
