Weir Farm Artists Collective - Opportunity for Local Artists to Gather and Build Community!
Gathering in the Burlinham Barn the first Thursday of the Month April - November

Calling all artists! The Weir Farm Artist Collective is a collaboration of independent artists following the tradition of creativity within the Weir Farm landscape. On the first Thursday of the month, May through October, the Collective will be gathering in the Burlingham Barn with a focused discussion topic.

April Artist-in-Residence Open Studio
Saturday April 25, 11:00 am to 12:30 pm
Stop by the Artist-in-Residence Studio between 11:00 and 12:30 to meet April artist, Lori Larusso. View their work and learn more about the Park's Artist-in-Residence program. The Friends of Weir Farm will offer light refreshments and fun art activities for children. Join us for an informal and artsy afternoon! No registration required.

Second Saturday Stone Wall Tour
10:00 to 10:45 am on the second Saturday of the month, May through October, including May 9, June 13, July 11, August 8, September 12, and October 10
Stone Wall Tours are offered once a month in-season on the second Saturday. Join a park ranger on a ramble through the fields of Weir Farm National Historical Park to examine the three different types of stone walls on the property and learn about their rich history. The stone walls not only provide an opportunity to explore New England's geologic and cultural past, but they have also served as a source of inspiration to the artists that have lived and visited here for over 140 years. The tour will meet at the Park Sign out front of the Visitor Center - no registration required!

The Art of Phenology Workshop
9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday May 16 or July 18
Registration Required – registration opens April 1 at 9 am 
Join us for a creative workshop at Weir Farm National Historical Park to celebrate nature! Learn about phenology, the study of seasonal changes in plants and animals and create your own artistic Phenology Wheel and nature journal. Weir Farm Volunteer Naturalist, Jean Linville, will introduce phenology and give an overview of Weir Farm’s program. Then, Garden Crew Volunteer, Susan Stein, will guide you in creating an artistic Phenology Wheel so you can begin observing seasonal changes and practice the art of phenology! No experience is needed. This workshop is ideal for nature lovers, gardeners, bird watchers, journalers, and artists. All materials are provided, but feel free to bring your own art supplies.

Paint Out - Third Thursday of the Month, May through October

Calling all artists! The Weir Farm Artist Collective is a collaboration of independent artists following the tradition of creativity within the Weir Farm landscape. The third Thursday of the month will be a ‘paint out’-style gathering, where artists can come to the park and make art together. Parking for the ‘paint out’ days will be in the overflow parking lot near the Weir Barn.

B.A.R.K. Ranger Pet Portrait in the Park Day
9:00 -11:30 am on Saturday May 30, Sunday July 19, and Saturday September 19
Bring your furry friend to Weir Farm to participate in our B.A.R.K. Ranger program and paint a portrait of your pet! All art supplies will be provided, and art instructors will be on hand to provide tips. When you’ve finished your painting, your dog can be sworn in as a B.A.R.K. Ranger and earn a certificate and dog tag. Pop in anytime between 9:00 and 11:30 am, no registration required. Can’t make a Pet Portrait in the Park Day? Stop by during visitor center hours and use our free-to-use art supplies to participate on your own. Please note we do not mail dog tags. Weir Farm Artist Collective Exhibit Reception at Ridgefield Library
Saturday June 6 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm
Artists from Weir Farm National Historical Park’s Artist Collective program will be featured in an upcoming exhibit at the Ridgefield Library. The exhibition, Weir Inspired: Works by the Weir Farm Artist Collective, will be on view during library hours from June 2 through June 29, with an opening reception on Saturday June 6 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Take Part in Art - Informal Instruction in Watercolor and Landscape Painting with Bobbi Mullen

Stop by and ask Bobbi for some pro tips anytime between 1:00 to 4:00 pm, and remember, free-to-use supplies are always available during Visitor Center hours! No registration required.
