No matter what your age or taste in shows, you'll find something you like onstage at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. From May through September, multiple amphitheaters in the park present performances such as musicals, dance, opera, jazz, and popular and country music. A good time to explore the beauty and history of the park without the crowds is October - April.
The weather at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts is typical for the mid-Atlantic area. There are four seasons. The majority of visitation is during the summers, which can be hot and humid during the day and cooler at night.

In 2012, park staff and volunteers planted 42 species of native grasses and wildflowers here to create a habitat that now supports over 40 kinds of bees and 25 types of butterflies.

Join Dr. Peter M. Mecca, Adjunct Professor, Educator, Scientist, and Fairfax Master Naturalist for aĀ "Bare Facts" presentation, in the beautifully renovated Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts Filene Center, onĀ Living with Black Bears, an award-winning education and outreach initiative addressing humanābear interactions in Virginia, including locally in the DMV. This presentation is appropriate for all ages.
Gain an understanding of black bears, their behaviors and habitats, food sources, migration patterns and more. The session will offer practical, science-based strategies that can be used to reduce conflicts with black bears. Learn how to manage attractants and how to prevent interactions to help protect people, their pets, and other wildlife.
This project is a partnership between theĀ Virginia Master Naturalist (VMN) programĀ and theĀ Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR)Ā and received theĀ 2025 Outstanding Volunteer Project AwardĀ from theĀ Alliance of Natural Resource Outreach and Service Programs (ANROSP). The award recognizes volunteer-led projects that advance natural resource management and public education. Evaluations from more than 80 presentations Statewide show that participants leave better informed and more likely to adopt bear-smart practices.
