Follow the paths where people have walked for thousands of years. Gaze up at massive sandstone cliffs of cream, pink, and red that soar into a brilliant blue sky. Experience the tall, stretching walls of a narrow slot canyon. Zion’s unique array of plants and animals will enchant you as you absorb the rich history of the past and enjoy the excitement of present-day adventures.

🌤 Weather Information

Zion is known for a wide range of weather conditions. Temperatures vary with changes in elevation and day/night temperatures may differ by over 30°F. In summer, temperatures in Zion National Park often exceed 100°F/38°C. Zion experiences monsoons from mid-July into September that result in an increased risk of flash floods. Always be aware of the threat of storms and lightning and be prepared for a wide range of weather conditions. Winters are generally mild.

šŸš— Directions

Zion National Park's main, south entrance and administrative offices are located near Springdale, Utah You may drive yourself on all open park roads except the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. During most of the year, the Scenic Drive is accessed by shuttle bus only. Shuttles are free to ride. Board one in Springdale or at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center.

Because the Angels Landing Pilot Permit Program is a pilot, it is reviewed every year to see how well it is working and to make adjustments as needed. The 2026 program is currently in final administrative review, and we will share additional information when it is available. If you have a permit through February 28, then your permit is unaffected.

The Narrows are closed to top-down travel (from Chamberlain's Ranch to Big Spring) due to increased water flow from a snow melt event. The Narrows are open to bottom-up travel between the Temple of Sinawava and Big Spring.

The alcove behind the Lower Emerald Pools is closed due to ice hazards.
Stage 2 fire restrictions in effect Caution
No setting, building, maintaining, attending, or using open fires of any kind in the park. This includes campfires and charcoal fires in Watchman Campground, South Campground, and picnic areas in Zion Canyon. Stoves fueled by petroleum or liquid propane gas are allowed. Smoking is allowed only in non-vegetated areas.

Large vehicle restrictions come into effect on June 7, 2026 Information
Beginning June 7, 2026, the park will enforce existing size and weight limits on the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway. Vehicles that exceed length, width, height, or weight limits will not be allowed to travel between Canyon Junction and the park's East Entrance. See the upcoming limits on the page linked below.

This program requires free, advance, in-person-only registration at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center information desk. Make sure to reserve your spot up to 3 days in advance.

You’ll ascend an elevation change of 368 ft (112 m) on a rocky, uneven trail with moderate drop-offs along the way. The overlook at the end offers expansive views of lower Zion Canyon with high drop-offs and no guard rails. For accessibility information, visit our Trail Access Information page.

Location: Register for this program at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center information desk. This visitor center is located near the start of Watchman Trail.

All aboard! Step right up and board the iconic Zion Shuttle for a 2-hour, ranger-led bus ride with special stops along the way! Programs vary day-to-day but may include geology, wildlife, plants, human history, and so much more.

This program requires free, advance, in-person-only registration at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center information desk. Make sure to reserve your spot up toĀ 72 hours in advance.

These shuttles are wheelchair-accessible, though theĀ lift has a combined weight limit of 600 lbs and cannot accommodate chairs larger than 45" long or 25" wide. For more information, speak with a ranger at the visitor center.Ā

Join a ranger to learn about dinosaurs, animal adaptations, or Zion adventures! These interactive 45-minute programs are designed for Junior Rangers ages 4 through 12, but all visitors are welcome.Ā 

Accessibility Information: The Zion Nature Center is wheelchair-accessible, withĀ room to navigate in a mobility device. Some activities may take place on a flat, grassy lawn.Ā Rangers at the visitor center and Nature Center are available for any questions. Location: The Nature Center is located next to South Campground, a short distance off of the Pa’rus Trail. Limited parking is available, with reserved accessible parking spaces near the front door. Keep in mind that the Zion Canyon Shuttle does not stop here.
