Visit one of the last unspoiled coastal wetlands on the Atlantic Coast. Discover 6,000 years of human history and experience the beauty of salt marshes, coastal dunes, and hardwood hammocks. The Timucuan Preserve includes Fort Caroline and Kingsley Plantation.

🌤 Weather Information

We have mild winters and hot summers. In the winter average highs are in the 60's, lows in the 40's. The summer temperatures reach up into the 90's.

šŸš— Directions

The beautiful expanse of the Timucuan Preserve is located within the city limits of Jacksonville, Florida. The Preserve can be accessed from major roads and highways in and around Jacksonville. Directions to individual park sites such as Kingsley Plantation, American Beach and the Ribault Column can be found on our website. Our main visitor center is located at Fort Caroline, about 14 miles northeast of downtown.

All Visitor Center Phones Down at Preserve Information
As of 07/01, the phone lines are down at both Fort Caroline National Memorial and Kingsley Plantation. The Preserve can be contacted at timu_information@nps.gov and a ranger will reply as soon as possible.
Heat Advisory in Effect Caution
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Northeast Florida from July 9-12th with a heat index value ranging 105-108 degrees F. Please adjust your plans accordingly and ensure you stay hydrated during your visit.

Winter storm closures- Fort Caroline and Kingsley Plantation Visitor Center Park Closure
The Fort Caroline National Memorial and Kingsley Plantation Visitor Centers will be closed on Sunday, February 1 dueĀ to winter storm conditions. Theodore Roosevelt Area and Cedar Point remain open. Visitor Center operations will resume on Wednesday, February 4.
Kingsley Plantation Closed Park Closure
Kingsley Plantation is currently without power and water. The site is closed for the remainder of the day while crews work to restore power. Fort Caroline National Memorial remains open.

The Planter's House at Kingsley Planatation will be open 10:30-11:30am and 2:30-3:30pm Friday, Saturday. and Sunday staff and weather permitting. Open house are self-guided walkthroughs, however a ranger or volunteer will be available at the house to answer questions.Ā Access to the Planter's House is through the south porch entrance.
